PTA President's Message - June 2010
Hello Arlington Families,
Well, this is most certainly hard to believe, the last newsletter of
this school year. It seems like just yesterday we were all settling in
for the new school year and now look; we have so quickly come to the
end.
With this being the last newsletter of the school year, there are
things I’d like to write but before doing so, a brief recap of our most
recent events.
Kindergarten Round-Ups were held during the 3rd and 4th weeks of
April. Thank you to the many board members and chairs who went to the
parent meetings to introduce them to our PTA and thank you to Dawn
Sawyer, hospitality, for providing snacks to our newest families and our
kinders to be.
Thank you to Tish Une for heading up Arlington’s Relay For Life team.
Your time and efforts are very much appreciated for this very worthwhile
and wonderful annual event.
Thank you to Cayme Momita and Laura Shiozaki for chairing
Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week and thank you to Kozue Kondo for
coordinating the teacher/staff luncheon. We at Arlington are most
definitely lucky to have such a great group of teachers/staff and
although this one week was set aside especially for them, we hope they
know that they are appreciated the whole year through.
Thank you to Sandra Jones for chairing this year’s Blue Ribbon Week.
Thank you for decorating our school with blue ribbons showing our
appreciation for our local law enforcements and thank you for arranging
to have officers from the Torrance Police Dept. come in and talk to our
kids about the importance of safety.
Thank you to Chris Mason and Cayme Momita and all their AIA docents
and parent volunteers for all of their amazing efforts on this year’s
“Artitude” AIA Gallery gala event. What a truly magnificent display of
all of our children’s artwork. Thank you for your creativeness and
countless hours of hard work.
Thank you to Charlene Sakatani for chairing Arlington’s traditional
Ice Cream Social event, always a treat for our Arlington families and
friends. And thank you to Karen Paguirigan for chairing the second book
fair of the year, another treat for all of our Arlington Superstars.
Having said the above, it brings me to the final paragraphs of this
newsletter. It has truly been an honor and a privilege to serve as
Arlington’s PTA President and I want to say thank you for the
opportunity. I want to thank all the many, many parent volunteers that
have continually showed me, given me their support and have been nothing
more than amazing and have truly been the best. Time and time again,
your dedication, your devotion, your caring for our Arlington Superstars
has overwhelmed me and the matter of fact attitudes that you all have is
simply astonishing. I, as a parent, feel so fortunate and lucky to be at
Arlington knowing all the support our children will continue to receive.
Congratulations to Sharon Sawai, next year’s PTA President and the
rest of the executive board members and chairpersons. There is no doubt;
all of you will do an amazing job!!! Arlington, where AMAZING happens!!!
Once again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you!!! It has
definitely been a pleasure.
Have a wonderful summer vacation and until we meet again, as always,
take care….
