PTA President's Message - November 2008Hello Arlington Families, It was another busy month here at Arlington. I hope everyone had the opportunity to meet and get to know your child’s teacher and their classroom at Back to School Night that was held on September 25th. It was a pleasure to see all of our Superstar Teachers as they were introduced one by one by Ms. Roloff. Thank you to everyone who attended our first PTA Association Meeting of the year. There will be 3 more Association Meetings (Dec., Feb., and Apr.) Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend. The week of October 7th – 10th marked Firefighter’s Appreciation Week. Thank you to Pauline Hirabayashi, Leah Sawai and Sharon Sawai for chairing this week long event. Thank you to the firefighters who came to Arlington. Unfortunately, their visit had to be cut short because of a call but needless to say, I am sure it was exciting for the kids to see the firefighters in action as they left to respond. Thank you to Lori Yamasaki for a successful PTA membership drive. Arlington exceeded their membership goal of 900+ members. Great job!!! Thank you to everyone who signed up for membership. Your support is appreciated. Please remember, it’s never too late to become a member. Memberships are accepted throughout the year. Thank you to Nancie Fukushima and Sharon Sawai for all of their hard work with this year’s Fall Fundraiser. Once again with their relentless efforts and the wonderful support from our Arlington families and friends, the fundraiser was another huge success. Thank you to everyone for your support!!! AIA’s first project got underway. Red Poppies were in full bloom. This project was really a nice piece of art with beautiful colors and contrasts. Please take the time to admire your little artist’s work of art. Thank you to Diane Wang, AIA chairperson and all of the volunteer art docents. Lastly, with the holidays and classroom get togethers just around the corner, please take into account TUSD’s Wellness Policy (details can be found on their website www.tusd.org). By promoting exercise and more nutritious snacks, our children are sure to benefit from a healthier living style. Hope everyone has a safe and Happy Halloween!!!
