PTA President's Message - September/October 2007Hello Arlington Families, Our Students are making smooth progress as they start their new school year routines. Our wonderful teaching staff is hard at work preparing lesson plans that challenge students to do their best work. Arlington PTA is working just as diligently to provide both parents and students opportunities to unite toward the common goal of strengthening their educational experience. The PTA Membership Drive is well underway. If you have not joined yet, there is still time. You can sign up your children, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and of course yourselves. Additional membership envelopes can be found in the office. All proceeds go to support local, state, and national PTA, the largest advocacy group for children in our nation. Our fall fundraiser is coming to a close. It is from your generous support that PTA can continue to provide our students with educational assemblies, Adventures in Art, field trips, computer lab, library time, and other “extras” that our students need and deserve to enrich their education. Thank you in advance for your support. New this year is our Wellness Policy that TUSD has adopted. TUSD has made a commitment to provide nutritional and physical education to foster lifelong habits of healthy eating and physical activity. This policy has a direct effect on the snacks to be served at your child’s class parties. Please get further details from your teacher as to acceptable snacks. More information can also be found on the TUSD website at www.TUSD.org. Finally, thank you to all of you who took the time to fill out the volunteer forms. We are in the process of creating a database with all the information. The respective chairperson will be calling/emailing you to ask for you help as the program or activity draws near. The names and phone numbers of each chairperson will be in our school directory, which you will be receiving soon. You can also visit our website at: www.ArlingtonPTA.com where you can find copies of flyers or newsletters that have come home. This is another way for you to keep up to date with what’s going on at Arlington. I’m looking forward to working with many of you as we help our children achieve their full potential. Our children are our shining future. Let’s all work together to make sure that future is bright!
