PTA President's Message - May 2008
Hello Arlington Families,
How many books did your child read? We’ve recently completed a week
where our kids were invited to explore their imagination as they dove into
new adventures through the pages of a good book. Thank you to Terie
Tinsley and all her helpers for making this wonderful Reading Incentive
Week possible. We also give many thanks to all of our teachers who
encourage reading each and every day.
On April 25th, Arlington had their second annual Jog-a-thon. Students
jogged to support healthier lifestyles. Funds raised will supplement our
current programs and provide resources and supplies for all Arlington
students to succeed. Thank you for your generous donations for all our
children. Thank you to Nancy Nishihira and her committee for organizing
this event. Special thanks go to DJ KD (Keith Dasalla) for providing the
upbeat music for our students to jog to.
Our Art docents have been hard at work putting together our annual
Adventures in Art Gallery to be held Friday, May 16th in our Arlington
cafetorium starting at 6:00 pm. One piece of artwork from each student
from kindergarten through fifth grade will be displayed. I hope you will
take time out of your busy schedules to stop by to see all the hidden
talent that our docents have uncovered. We have many budding artists here
at Arlington.
There are still many activities coming up this month. Arlington’s Open
House is just around the corner. Come out and visit your child’s classroom
on May 22nd, and stop by the cafetorium for some yummy ice cream at our
annual Ice Cream Social. We finish up the month by saying thank you to all
of Arlington’s wonderful teachers. Our Teacher Appreciation Week will be
May 27th – May 30th. Talk to your room parents to see what fun activities
are planned as we show our appreciation to those who directly impact the
future of our country.
“Our Children, Our Shining Future.”
